Active Power Control of Grid-Connected Distributed Generation Unit

The growth in energy consumption and awareness on global warming has increased the focus on Distributed Generation (DG) using non-conventional energy sources. The stand-alone DGs are used to mitigate the challenge of rural electrification and the grid connected DGs are used to reduce demand on power system network. The DG in grid connected mode operates in parallel with main grid and supplies a preset power to it. The power generated by DG has to comply with the standards like IEEE 1547, IEC 61727 and VDE 0126-1-1. The paper proposes a simple and efficient control technique for DG in grid connected mode. This power control technique is used to inject desired amount of power from DG to grid. This method is implemented using hysteresis band control PWM technique. The results are verified using MATLAB Simulink tool.
